Karla's main interest is wildlife.  She photographs most of her own subjects to use as reference.  Zoos and wildlife reserves are a rich source for taking photographs of animals and birds.  Whenever Karla has the opportunity, she travels to different locales to watch and photograph her subjects in the wild. Learning about the personalities of animals and seeing them in their natural habitat, enhances the accuracy in portraying her subjects.  Karla hopes her paintings and photographs will offer a window into a world not everyone has a opportunity to see.  She also hopes her work will enlighten viewers about the beauty of our wildlife and ancourage the protection of their habitat.
